Savory vegan bacon bits made from tempeh
Ingredients
- One 8-oz. Package tempeh (soy-free if necessary)
- ¼ cup liquid aminos
- ¼ cup low-sodium vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- 1.Line a plate with paper towels
- 2.Crumble tempeh into small pieces
- 3.Combine liquid aminos, broth, 1 tbsp olive oil, liquid smoke, maple syrup, cumin, and garlic powder
- 4.Heat remaining oil in pan, add tempeh and cook 1 minute
- 5.Add sauce and cook until liquid is absorbed and tempeh is crispy
- 6.Transfer to plate to drain excess oil
- 7.Season with black pepper
